Beginning at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 29, Loudonville Public Library will play host to an open house to dedicate the new Marjorie's Alphabet Soup Diner and showcase a variety of new spaces and services at the library. The dedication of this exciting new early literacy play space, which was made possible by a donation from the Marjorie Geib estate, will be at 10:30 a.m.
Following the dedication, visitors will enjoy refreshments while perusing the library's new spaces; learning about its new mobile circulation capabilities and watching a live demo of our new Microsoft Surface Hub.
Since technology has always been an important part of the services that the library offers, these new devices will expand the library's offerings and improve how it serves its patrons. The new mobile circulation tablets were made possible through a donation by American Legion Post 257 and allows the staff to serve patrons anywhere in and outside of the building. The Microsoft Surface Hub will offer new opportunities for collaboration and video conferencing for local business and education and was a generous donation of the Living Legacy Foundation.
Colleen Sandusky, public relations coordinator for the library siad, "The staff has been talking and listening to our patrons over the past year and many of the changes are a result of this process. We are featuring popular collections for easier access for those who like to get what they want and go. We've added an adult conversational space with charging tables for those who like to linger and visit. Each new space has been created to meet the needs of the age group that it is intended for. These changes have been a dramatic example of community organizations, local residents and staff coming together to make things happen. Without the donation of funds, time, tools and materials this would have not been possible." Director Michael Thornton added, "We've been very pleased with the feedback we have been receiving and are looking forward to sharing these new services and features with the public at our upcoming Open House."
