May Events at Loudonville Public Library

■ Library will be closed Monday, May 1. The staff will be participating in a staff development session in the morning.

■ Friends of the Library meeting is 7 p.m. Monday, May 1. History of Vintage Baseball is the subject of featured speaker Brian Hartzell. This program will take place in the Golden Center and is open to all. This meeting will still take place even though the library is closed.

■ Teen Advisory Board will meet 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 2. Members of TAB must have their committee duties completed by each meeting.

■ Toddler Time is every Wednesday morning beginning at 10:30 a.m. Toddler Time is for children to hear stories and participate in music and movement activities as well as socialize with same aged peers. Play materials and activities will be provided by the library.

■ Games with Mike Tuesdays is 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. May 3 and 17. Teens can play new and exciting board games with Library Director Michael Thornton. No experience is needed.

■ Tech 4 Two is 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4. Now adults can sign up for a one hour technology session with Colleen Sandusky. When you sign up, you will need to be very specific about what help you need so that you can get the most out of your session. Some subjects will not be able to be covered.

■ Lego Club is 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11. Participants in first through sixth grades build to different themes each month. Legos offer something physical, imaginative and mechanical while increasing attention span.

■ Annual Plant Swap is Thursday, May 18-20 in the library cafe. Plants can be dropped off anytime during the swap. There is always a great variety of plants to choose from. People are asked to bring plants in bags, pots or boxes and label them clearly. There will be a prize drawing, so come often and complete a new entry each time.

■ Adult Book Discussion is 11 a.m. Friday, May 19. This month's book is "We Band of Angels" by Elizabeth Norman. This book can be picked up at the circulation desk. New members are always welcome.

■ Teen After Hours Nerf is 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 19. Dark-colored clothing is preferred. Signup and permission slip is required with a limit of 24. Signup began on April 17.

■ Summer reading program signup begins Friday, May 26. There will be a variety of programs, reading and prizes wrapped around the theme Build A Better World. Everyone from birth to senior can get involved in this program that runs until July 15.

■ The library will be closed on Monday, May 29 in honor of Memorial Day.

■ Summer Reading Kick Off Event Touch a Truck is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 31 in Central Park. This interactive event will allow children to see, touch and safely explore their favorite trucks and machinery.
