The St. Peter Mission Society Buy-Me-Now (BMN)/Silent Auction will be Friday afternoon, May 12 from 2:30 to 5:30 pm and Saturday morning, May 13, from 9 a.m. to noon in the church basement at 220 E. Butler St. in Loudonville. Fifty-plus gift certificates/items and 20 themed baskets can be purchased at the predetermined BMN prices and taken home that day. If the item isn't purchased outright, bids can be placed. Gift cards are from area recreation facilities, restaurants, stores and lodges. This is the organization's annual fundraising activity and proceeds benefit local charities.

This year, St. Peter Mission Society is celebrating its 70th anniversary. The organization was started by Martha Henley's mother, Gertrude Allerding, in 1947. Each year, the organization donates money to The Community HELP Mission, Helping Hand, The Store, American Legion Soldier Project and the Loudonville Church Women. It also adopts a family who it helps monthly, donates $500 worth of gift certificates to veterans at the Loudonville Nursing Home, makes 20 homemade comforters for The Day of Sharing, cuts coupons for veterans and rolls bandages that are sent to Africa.

Special thanks to local merchants for their generous donations to the event. Together we make a difference in our community.
