Waking up in monsoon-like weather after their weekend campout on the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Scoutmaster Brian Purdy, Assistant Scoutmaster Bud Stanton and parents lugged the caravan of scouts and siblings home with their minds full of a new perspective on Air Force history and camping skills. While traveling on Ohio 95 South of Perrysville, Pleasant Hill campground, they came upon a fallen tree blocking the highway. As the Scout's motto and slogan states, "Be prepared," and, "Do a good turn daily," they jumped right into action grabbing bow saws from the trailer to clear the road. Scouts with the proper training helped saw the trunk, while younger scouts pulled smaller branches into the ditch. The state trooper is appreciated by everyone involved in this act of community service who was kept safe due to the direction of traffic and monitoring. In this photo, from left, Charles Purdy, Brian Purdy and Camden Stanton work on clearing the tree from the road.
