A Butler man was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash Sunday night, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Jonathan D. Thran, 21, died after he was ejected from his motorcycle and "succumbed to his injuries," according to the Ashland post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The Ashland post still is investigating the crash.
The crash took place around 10:02 p.m. on County Road 3175, south of Ohio 3.
According to police, Thran was riding a 2015 Kawasaki Z1000 motorcycle north on County Road 3175 when he went off the side of the road and hit a guardrail. He was ejected from the motorcycle.
Police said Thran had a temporary motorcycle permit and was wearing a helmet when he crashed. The Highway patrol said they believed alcohol and unsafe speed to be "suspected factors" in the crash.
The Loudonville Police Department, Loudonville Fire Department and Ashland County Coroner's Office assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol on the scene.
